Nutter expands Trusts and Estates Department
Print PDFThe law firm of Nutter McClennen & Fish LLP announced that David W. Lewis, Jr., Kevin M. Meuse,
Elizabeth F. Potter, and Gordon M. Stevenson, Jr. have joined the firm’s Trusts and Estates Department. Meuse and Potter join Nutter as partners and Lewis and Stevenson join as counsel and of counsel.

The group joins Nutter from the Boston office of K&L Gates, bringing the department to more than 20 attorneys. Nutter’s Trusts and Estates Department counsels high net worth individuals, foundations and families in connection with estate planning, trust administration, estate administration and related probate proceedings. The attorneys act as legal advisors and, in many cases, fiduciaries, providing service as executors, trustees, and guardians.
Meuse focuses his practice on estate planning and estate settlement matters, and also serves as trustee of numerous private trusts. He has over 25 years of experience in the design and implementation of estate plans ranging from straightforward plans for young families with presently modest requirements to complex plans for executives, private business owners and other high net worth individuals, including the design and implementation of sophisticated and specifically tailored lifetime wealth transfer programs. He also has extensive experience with designing and implementing programs to transition non-fungible family assets such as closely-held businesses and legacy real estate holdings to future generations. His broad practice also encompasses post-mortem tax planning, resolution of disputes with the tax authorities, and the negotiation and preparation of complex prenuptial agreements.
Potter concentrates her practice in estate planning and in trust and estate administration. She has extensive experience in estate and gift tax planning as well as in the preparation of estate planning documents of all types. She also has experience related to gift planning, planning for children's education, helping elderly parents financially, guardianships, conservatorships, prenuptial agreements, post-mortem planning, fiduciary income tax, charitable giving, and adoptions.
Lewis focuses his practice on trust administration and estate planning. He serves as trustee of numerous private trusts, and in that capacity provides fiduciary services to individuals and families. Lewis is also experienced in probate court litigation involving large trusts and questions of first impression in several states. Previously, Lewis was an attorney for twenty-two years at another Boston law firm, serving as its managing partner from 1990 to 1993. He is a member of the Boston Bar Association and Massachusetts Bar Association and a trustee of the Dover Land Conservation Trust.
Stevenson’s practice is an outgrowth of his continued interest in and commitment to helping individuals and families create sensible plans for reducing tax and probate exposure. He is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a long standing member of the Boston Bar Association and Massachusetts Bar Association.
